What Accommodations Are (and Are Not)

Accommodations provide access to learning and assessment without lowering academic expectations. They do not replace instruction or eliminate the need for skill development.

Common Accommodations

Examples include:

  • extended time
  • audiobooks or TTS
  • speech-to-text
  • reduced-distraction environments
  • graphic organizers or note-taking supports
  • alternative response formats

Advocacy & Communication

We support families by:

  • interpreting psychoeducational reports
  • clarifying accommodation purposes and limitations
  • preparing for school meetings
  • providing communication scripts and question prompts

Documentation & Rights

We help families understand:

  • documentation requirements
  • assessment timelines
  • reevaluation considerations
  • appropriate follow-up questions
